What began as a vision, today is a reality. For over 12 years, the aim and focus has been to bring international standard world class health care to every child in India, with uncompromising commitment. Children are not small versions of adults, since they have different illnesses, manifestations and treatment requirements. They cannot often express or describe their illness or submit to examination. The young are most vulnerable, and thus need special attention to make them achieve their full potential as adults. 90% of the world’s children are born each year in the developing world; a majority of them succumb to preventable diseases. Thus, Paediatric medicine and nephrology is practiced with a heart, soul and passion.

This clinic is located in the heart of south Delhi and is easily accessible with ample basic facilities of parking, waiting, valet facilities with special play rooms and toy stations for children.

Comprehensive immunization facilities are available at all times, for all ages. This has been the greatest success in the preventive health care system. Prevention of diseases and disability is truly the birth right of every child. Cold chains maintain the efficacy of every vaccine. Specific immunization and growth charts and files are maintained meticulously, with simultaneous computerised data charting of every child.

It has been a dream come true, to start one of the first CAPD (continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis) programmes in Delhi. This was, and largely still is relatively a new therapeutic modality for treating children with chronic renal failure and end stage kidney disease. This programme allows the most cost effective mode of dialysis at home for children. CAPD has clearly revolutionised renal therapy.

Also at this clinic, one of the first few research studies in Delhi were conducted for detection of antenatal fetal renal abnormalities. These studies were awarded the best clinical research programmes in Delhi. These studies have gone a long way for establishing internationally recognised treatment protocols, to decrease long term renal damage with the earliest possible detection and treatment. This indeed is the best contribution to the society.

Comprehensive Maternal And Child Care

Childbirth is not a medical/ surgical procedure to be performed on a patient but a normal physiological and psychological milestone in a woman’s and her family’s life. Through its emphasis on education and empowerment the aim is to provide a birthing experience that is more comfortable and satisfying for families. The team of health care professionals comprising of obstetricians, paediatricians, educators and dieticians provide a continuum of care that begins before conception, and extends through pregnancy, delivery and care of the newborn. The goal is healthy mothers, babies and families with successful parenting skills.

Preconception Care

The goal of preconception care is to ensure, that the woman is healthy prior to pregnancy, & to identify and treat risk factors associated with poor pregnancy outcomes. It also aims to provide counselling and treatment to couples having difficulty in conceiving. Special genetic clinics are available for high risk pregnancies, to diagnose chromosomal and inherited disorders at the earliest stage possible.

Antenatal Care

The goal of antenatal care is to improve the health and wellbeing of the expectant mother and her unborn child. Not only are the biological and medical issues addressed; but also the emotional and psychological issues related to pregnancy, childbirth and parenting are reviewed. Additionally group education provides an opportunity to the expectant couples, to learn about pregnancy and childbirth related aspects. The program also encourages the father to participate in all stages of pregnancy including delivery.

Labour And Delivery

Care during labour and delivery aims to provide a safe and satisfying birthing experience. Inclusion of the father during labour provides continuous physical and emotional support. It helps the woman develop a sense of confidence as the key component of a positive birthing experience, thereby improving infant outcomes and reducing medical intervention. Labour, delivery and post partum care all take place in same room.

The Post Partum Period

The program aims to promote infant-parent bonding. Parents and the newborn are treated as a unit and not separated unless indicated medically. Breast feeding is promoted. Education on how to read the baby’s signals and respond effectively to his or her needs, thereby providing parents the confidence to care for their infant at home is incorporated. Return visits are planned for continued evaluation of the mother and baby’s health.
